Denver's blizzard --- Some tips to stay SAFE!

Denver is experiencing the largest snowfall of the year (so far) and is a good day Snow shovelingto stay home if you are able.     All school districts were closed today, and many businesses are closed.

Sad to say, our mountains that NEED this snowfall is not getting the benefit of this storm.      However, there are many accidents all over town, and hope drivers have the essentials needed to make it home safely.

~ Water
~ Snacks
~ Blanket
~ Full tank of gas
~ Gloves, hat and warm clothing

This time of year if you get into a traffic jam, and unable to move for long periods of time, it is not uncommon for some to run out of gas.    BE PREPARED!

Today is a day we are to wear RED for heart health, so if you have any heart conditions, find someone in your neighborhood to shovel or use the snow blower for you.

For those that have not seen snow, not experienced this beauty, I have done a short video to show you how beautiful and peaceful a snowfall can be!

John, you aren't getting any of this snow?     Didi said she wasn't getting any in Vail either!

Posted by Joan Cox, Denver Real Estate-720-231-6373 (Metro Brokers - House to Home, Inc. - Denver Real Estate) 4 months ago

Wow, beautiful video, but looks cold. Heard about your storm on the early a.m. news, they suggested that anyone who "had" to drive somewhere be prepared with provisions in your car just incase you were stuck somewhere.

Joan, hope you're staying warm and safe inside!

Lynda, it really is pretty, and is 26 outside.   While shoveling wearing a heavy coat, it was too warm.     We don't have the humidity to make it as cold as other places!

Great tips, Joan, for Denver visitors and homeowers alike!  When we lived in WA we saw a least one big snow storm a year.  We always carried an emergency kit in our car with items like you've mentioned.

Stay safe and warm!

DeeDee, I was thinking of you and other friends from FL when doing this video!    It is always better to be prepared when leaving home, you never know when you will need these essentials!

Evergreen has already gotten 36", which is in the foothills just outside Denver.

Wow Joanie, that is some snowfall...keep it in the mountains...we have nothing and i'm thrilled because i am driving all around...video was very good...listen i was stranded in a blizzard once when i was 21...i know all about preparedness!

Posted by Ginny L Gorman Realtor®|North Kingstown Homes for Sale - North Kingstown RI (Phillips Post Road Realty -Waterfront homes, Short Sales) 4 months ago

Ginny, the past few years Denver has been spared, the mountains have gotten the snowfall they need, but not so this year.   They are in desperate need of snow for tourism!      Glad to hear you have great weather!   MANY flights have been canceled, and maybe tomorrow too!

Joan: Lots of crazies on the road, even in areas that get plenty of snow...good to know you are safe and warm!

Beautiful video. But it reminds me why I left the snow belt. The only time I want to see snow again is in pictures.

We haven't had any serious snow in N. Idaho yet this year. We've had a couple of storms, but then a few days later we get rain, so not much on the ground.

The "Old Folks" used to say that February was snow month, so it could still arrive.

On the days when it is really coming down I say my "thank-yous" because now that I work at home I don't have to get on the roads.

Marte, it has been a mild winter everywhere, and it is really nice to have the option of working from home.

Joan - that's the kind of weaterh we usually get but so far this year the snow has been minimal and then it warms up and it all melts ..... not much of a winter so far here

David, if you are prepared, results could be less favorable!

Kathy, we actually have had very mild temps as well, but this storm came fast & furious today!

Your friends in Texas experienced 79 degree weather followed by RAIN in the late afternoon. A PERFECT January day. Although I did enjoy watching your video. As long as I don't have to do it in person. BRRRRR....

Hope you are feeling better today!! ♥

I was thinking I WOULD NOT look at any beach pics today, as it would be too tempting to run away --- oh, if the airport was open!   Hope you are feeling better Joni!   The fever, chills and body aches have subsided, now to be able to live withou the box of Kleenex would be heaven!

Hi Joan, looks like our winter snow from last year...I must say that I am glad it hasn't snowed here, but looks like we may be getting some of the snow next week. Stay warm and work from home if possible.

Hi Joan, Cute video....I'm definitely forgetting what snow looks like this year....we haven't had any (not that I'm complaining). Just wanted to stop by and say "Hi", haven't been around much but I hope to get back into the swing of things this month.

Take it easy Joan - loved the little video - nice narration. I could hear just a touch of cold in your voice. Hope you're feeling better.  And thanks for sharing your abundance of snow with us.

Hello Joan,

I really don't care for the "blizzards" any more. LOL

I think you can have all mother nature can dole out.

Have a safe and warm day in Denver, Colorado.

Best, Clint McKie

Joan, we heard about the blizzard moving across CO - yikes, you have our sympathies! We're in much warmer weather right now, but it's still just the beg of Feb - anything could happen!  Great video.  Hopefully you are feeling better (and can maybe take a bit more of a rest now that folks are blizzard'ed in!)

It is always a good idea to share safety tips. Some of the best advice is not to drive unless absolutely necessary.

Be safe and have an outstanding week.

This winter, Denver has seen snow ON THE GROUND since first of December!   This is the first year I can remember this has happened!     For the most part, it snows, melts, and then another small storm comes, and the snow is melted within a few days.       We are having DEFINITE winter weather this year!
